How To Increase Your Computer Speed

2009-10-27

Every computer user wishes his PC were a little bit faster. Even if you've got a high-quality, top-of-the-line, fresh off of assembly line machine, you wouldn't be able to resist if you were offered a little bit of extra PC speed. The thing is, most operating systems don't run at the peak of their abilities. However, with system tweaks and simple, inexpensive registry cleaner software, you can often add quite a bit of power and speed to your computer.

The type of system tweaks available to you will depend on the version of Windows you're using. However, registry cleaners are fairly universal and work similar to one another. It's easiest to understand the mechanics of registry cleaners by first considering the Windows registry itself. The registry is a file that holds a wealth of information for the operating system - information that Windows draws on to open and use every program installed on the machine. The bad news is that the registry itself is far from perfect. Poorly installed, or uninstalled, programs, along with other bits of data corruption, can create bad entries. When Windows tries to access one of these bad entries, it leads to computer slowdown, and sometimes even bugs and computer crashes. None of these situations are fun to deal with. A registry cleaner program essentially combats these issues by searching for bad entries and either changing or eliminating them. Since the registry is a pretty small file, the whole process is completed very quickly.

If you're considering using a registry cleaner to get your computer working faster, be sure to buy a cleaner that isn't extremely expensive. At its heart, it's simple software, and shouldn't cost too much. However, you'll want to avoid free cleaners, as they're generally not updated often enough. A good registry cleaner will back up a user's old registry, so that any problems that the cleaner inadvertently causes can be easily undone. The programs are easy to operate, too. Usually, a user simply clicks through a few screens, and bad entries are presented and destroyed. Many cleaners also provide other functions, like disk cleanup or even defragmentation.

Investing in a good registry cleaner is a great move if you're trying to make your PC faster. Of course, you shouldn't neglect regular maintenance either. Be sure to set up a regular system update and defragmentation schedule. These will help your hard drive run properly, and protect your system from security threats that might cause slowdown. A little bit of computer maintenance goes a long way, and registry cleaners are a good addition to your normal schedule.
