What's In Store For Registry Cleaners In 2010

2010-01-25

The new year will bring a lot of changes to the world of computer technology, but there are also some changes due in how technology is managed and maintained. Registry cleaners, for instance, will probably see some of their biggest changes in years, mostly due to the introduction of new programs and operating systems that will overhaul the way the software might have worked in the past. Registry cleaners have long been used to speed up computers and to make them more stable, especially Windows machines, but their operation has always relied on a deep interaction with the registry of the Windows operating system, which is undergoing some big changes. And, to put it simply, any time there are significant changes to the Windows registry itself, registry cleaners will have to change in order to keep up.

One of the biggest differences between a 2010 Windows registry cleaner and earlier registry cleaners is the introduction of Windows 7, Microsoft's new flagship OS. Windows 7 has received some great reviews already, and it's certainly going to be a more popular system than Windows Vista was (that older OS is currently being swept under the rug). With Windows 7 comes an entirely new registry, optimized for better performance. Like all registries, though, regular cleaning and maintenance will probably be important. New versions of registry cleaning software will have to be released for Windows 7, and it's unlikely that older cleaners will do much of anything to the new OS.

Updates to Windows XP and new software will also require changes to cleaners. This makes automatic updating an important part of registry cleaners, and computer users who buy registry software should regularly check for new updates regardless. This has been the case in the past, but it's especially true given all the new changes Microsoft is introducing.

It's possible and very likely that registry cleaning software will be just as effective in 2010 as it has been for the last decade or so of computer maintenance. However, the best programs on the market will require a lot of tweaking and updating to stay on top, and to be as valuable for the challenges of the new computer market as they've been in the past. Computer users should be sure to read user reviews and look for the most current versions of Windows registry cleaning products, and be wary of "free" or low cost cleaners, as they're often not as effective as paid software. Used correctly, however, registry cleaners can do a great job of speeding up a computer and avoiding crashes and other nasty issues.
